Podcasts, dude, you're missing out

So there's these things called podcasts. Admittedly they are something I could totally give a flying leap about. But OMG, there is just a wealth of information out there and it's all...FREE. It's insane. I really wish I would've wised up to this months ago so I could've been learning via my ipod, instead of the usual rocking. But hey, that ain't all bad either. So whatever the topic, there's probably a pod cast, and yes, I bet it's free. I just downloaded probably 30 podcasts on web development. Sadly, I think I'm going to have to get a new ipod and external hard drive at this rate. But hey, small cost for FREE information. If you're someone like me who does insanely long train rides to work, this is for you. GET ON IT.

What I've been rockin: April Edition

It's finally nice out, so pick up these cd's, roll the windows down in your house/apt/car and piss off the neighbors.

Juliette and the Licks "Four on the Floor"

Sure, she's the actress from the National Lampoon's Xmas Vacation. But this like bottle rocket of a cd will blast atcha like a boot to the face. Just pure balls to the wall rock and roll. She has a full raspy voice for a singer which is really empowers this album. Dave Grohl rocks on the drums, which helps knock this ball out of the park; check Dave drum on Queens of the Stone Age "songs for the deaf" which I still can't get enough of.

Fav song so far: "Purgatory Blues"

The Blue Van "Art of Rolling" and "Dear Independence"

These Guys are a little outfit from Europe that has a flavor that is reminicent of 60's garage rock. The drummer has an old school style, they rock an organ on occasion, and while there's not real signature track, these are a couple rockin little cds.

Fav song: "Don't leave me blue" off of "Dear Independence"

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster "Self Titled" and "II"

These guys are a heavy as shit, dirty, grindy, bad ass little Southern rock/metal band. The singer just fuckin screams at you, and the band mauls you with heavy foot stomping rock with that Southern feel that makes you want to speed. Both of these cd's could be the movie sound track for some sort of hot rod chase scene, or a strip club where the signature lady comes out, and then a fight breaks out; I can't decide.

Fav song: "Gusty like the wind" off of "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster"

The Black Keys "Attack and Release"

I'm a newly annointed Black Keys fan, to me their best album is "Rubber Factory", but this cd rocks as well. More muscians on the cd as opposed to the singer, his guitar and the drummer. I've probably listened to it like 10 times aleady. So yeah. It's good.

Fav song: "Strange Times"

Velvet Revolver "Contraband"

So I'm a little late to the game on this cd. But in any case, a solid disc with already classic songs that you probably know the lyrics to.

Fav song: "Illegal i Song"

Van Halen "Fair Warning"

While we're on the subject of cd's I'm late to the game on, I finally completed my "David Lee Roth Era" Van Halen collection. This cd is by far my favorite. I used to rock to it on the token classic rock station back home (because that was really the ONLY radio station back home). Just good classic rock, and hey, Van Halen's on tour again, so it's cool, trust me.

Fav song: "Dirty Movies"

For those about to rock, I salute you.
